The hymn is called "Ashes" or "We rise again from ashes" (depending on your hymn naming preferences).
The way you know mom is talking to God in church and so you shouldn't bug her is if her eyes are closed. Nothing especially theological about it, but a lot of practical.
I love working in an office with other people... people who bring banana bread to work.
