Zomg. (Pronounced Zoh-em-gee, emphasis on the first syllable.)
I'm doing a project in my Catechisms of Luther class in which I am comparing Luther's catechetical hymns and their take on his theology to current Lutheran hymnody, as well as non-hymnal based musical resources. (Confirmation materials mostly.)
And a particular resource was recommended to me by a classmate, and I found it online, but it *gasp* wasn't a book. It's a software thing, so you pay them and then you get the PDF download for the music book and script (yes: a 50minute rock musical on the catechisms). But I didn't want to pay $30 for this just for the project, and figured I must be able to interlibrary loan (best invention ever!) it.
Alas, they couldn't get it through interlibrary loan.
"We couldn't get it on interlibrary loan, so I talked to [the head librarian] and he agreed we should just buy it. So we just printed it and as soon as we get it bound you can come over and take it out."
!!!!
In case you ever need to know, the people who will serve you best in research papers, and all forms of learning, and therefore the people you should treat the best, are, in no particular order:
1. Librarians
2. Indexers (Seriously, ever tried to do research with books that were all apparently published before the invention of the index?)
3. English teachers
The world would not be the same without these fine folks.
Hug one today.
