So I just got back from Manhattan After Dark, which is my grade school's gigantic awesome fundraiser that they do every year. They transform the entire basement and first floor into Manhattan with delis, coffee shops, casinos, bars, live music, and general awesomeness. The entire place looks completely different.
It was way fun. Especially running into two different teachers from "back in the day." One was Bear's 4th/5th grade SS teacher, who I used to volunteer for in high school. She immediately recognized both of us and we stood in the hall and talked for a while.
Then we saw my 7th grade lit teacher, who I adored, and who was in charge of student council when Bear and I were both on it. We saw her, but didn't know how to approach her, being that we were both shy. So we formulated a plan, that actually almost happened exactly like we planned it.
I went over and talked to a teacher who used to work with dad, and Bear joined me. Then, the lit teacher started to leave, and Bear pointed it out to me. The one we were talking to noticed us noticing, and said we should go over and say hi. We admitted that we were too shy and she offered to take us over. She did, we did, and the lit teacher recognized both of us immediately and hugged us bunches. That was awesome. She’s this little old lady, but she’s full of energy and (dare I say it?) spunk. It was fun.
Then we left. We ended up there for almost two hours, but it felt like much less time. We left right as it was starting to get crowded, which was good.
Alrighty. I'm starting to get panicked about leaving so early tomorrow morning and not being even slightly packed yet. Plus I haven't actually heard back from the person that's picking me up at the airport tomorrow, so that's a little worrisome. Especially 'cause I don't actually have a phone number where I can contact her tomorrow.
Hopefully you'll hear from me before I leave for France, but you might not. :D
