I am college student, see me bake!!!
Have I mentioned that this is my first ever "real" cake? With frosting and all. And I did it! It is the most cutest, amazingest smilie face cake you ever did see. And I can't wait to eat it all up!
Things I have learned:
Even if the pan claims to be "non-stick" one should still invest in crisco.
It's possible to re-stick a broken cake together with icing.
Always buy more icing than you think you will need. Because you will need more. Especially if you are trying to save some for your own pleasure.
It is actually possible to ice a cake while sitting on a futon, holding the cake on a plate in one hand, and frosting with the other. It's just... not recommended.
It's been an interesting day. First band day with the euphonium... that was interesting. I have an organ lesson tomorrow... that'll be interesting. I also realized that I have Christmas gifts for everyone in my family except my brother. Frustrating boy!
Speaking of frustrating boys... I enjoyed something yesterday that I thought I would never ever ever get to enjoy. Something that I thought didn't exist. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I had a fresh Big Mac. Fresh!! It probably helped that it was almost 10 at night and they probably hadn't had a customer for a couple of hours. But it was fresh, and warm, and almost a little too done. And warm and fresh and tastey and was like eating a real hamburger!! Amazing. (What was that? How does this relate to my boy? He's the one who drove me to McD's!)
Also, I love Edward Elgar. His Variations on an Original Theme ("Enigma"), Op. 36, is my new favorite piece of music. It's amazing. It makes you feel like a leaf in autumn... you fall from a tree, only to get lifted up into the sky, soaring higher than you thought existed, and then you plummet to the ground, only to be lifted again, then whipped around quickly, then more soaring, and on and on and on until you can't even remember what it was like to be attached to that silly branch and then-- you are placed, gently, caressingly, onto the ground to rest.
Alrighty then... time for some dishes, some homework, and probably some sleep eventually.
Today's Panda Joke: (pretty soon it will just be daily jokes, since I'm running out of panda ones)
A momma polar and baby polar bear are sitting on an iceberg eating fish. The baby polar bear asks "Momma, am I part panda bear?" "No, son" she replies, "you’re a polar bear".
The baby polar bear thinks about this for a few minutes then asks "Momma? Are you sure I’m not part Panda Bear?" Slightly puzzled, his mother replies more emphatically "No, son, you are all polar bear. Now eat your fish."
The baby polar muches on his fish a few mor minutes then pipes up again. "Well momma, are you absolutely sure I’m not part Panda’?"
Perplexed, the momma polar bear answers "Son, you are one hundred percent polar bear. Why do you ask?" "Because I’m freezing!"
