I'm making a cake. Can't tell you why. Or for whom. On the off chance that they might read this blog.
Cake. Turns out it is far for difficult to make a cake than one might think. First, you must decide on your base.
The base is the actual cake part. In my case, I decided, "I'm a college student, I'll take the easy route and use a mix." Ha! Easy! Right!
We (Julie and I) decided on funfetti base. 'Cause who doesn't love funfetti? And it's a non-chocolate cake base, for those who may not like chocolate.
Then we decided on chocolate icing. 'Cause who doesn't love chocolate icing.
Wait. There's a problem. Funfetti cake mix calls for eggs. Three eggs. Eggs don't come in packages of three. So we check all the cake mixes. They all call for eggs. Even the Andes mint mint mint mint mint chocolate chocolate chocolate chocolate brownies of amazing awesomeness. So we get a six pack of eggs.
And the smallest container of veggie oil that they had.
Cake mix: check.
Eggs: check.
Veggie oil: check.
Icing (both base, and "ez-squeeze" for decorating): check check.
So we go over to the kitchen gadgets section (that's actually what the sign says: kitchen gadgets)... wisk: check. Pan: uh... what kind of pan? what size? do we want to spend the extra bit for non-stick? We end up with a two-pack of 9 in. non-stick pans. Uh... how are we going to measure 1/3 c of the oil? 94 cents later, we have a pack of the whole variety of cup measures, tsps, and Tbses. Cool.
Please, don't tell me that "non-stick" doesn't really mean "non-stick". I don't care. I'll find out soon enough. Don't ruin this for me.
The baking will happen tomorrow night. Wish me luck!
In other news... it's really really really cold. Bwawablah might be supposedly getting flurries tonight, but the wind chill here is 25, I almost fell over twice today from the wind, and tomorrow night's low is 22. Ah!
Today's joke comes in link form: here. Appologies to those of you who can't see video.
Until the next,
