magnets

So... for a certain Christmas present I'm working on I have to touch magnets. These magnets have black dust on them. The black dust gets on my fingers. I then picked up a hard candy and popped it in my mouth. I then grabbed a paper towel, spit out the hard candy, and all other spit-able things (spit), and called my sister. After I described the situation, and my fear that I may have swallowed some magnet dust, her reaction was "the dust isn't going to bind to itself in your small intestine..." until she heard the real reason for my fear.

I'm having an MRI tomorrow.

Apparently I ask her the weirdest medical questions. I'm hoping to have a nongrumpy tech tomorrow. I imagine the conversation going like this:

Tech: Do you have any other metal in your body?

Me: So... you know how on House the MRI is always exploding?

Tech: Yeah... do you have other metal?

Me: Well, last night I was using craft magnets...

Tech: You swallowed magnets the night before an MRI?

Me: No... The magnets had this black dust on them, and I had it on my hands, and started to eat something...

Tech: ...

Me: I spit it back out. I'm pretty sure I swallowed, like, none of it.

Then the conversation can go one of two ways.

Option one: Tech: Yeaaah... you're gonna explode and explode our MRI if we MRI you today. Let's reschedule.

Option two: Tech: *laughing* You'll be fine.
