knitting question

I'm searching for a knitting pattern. Not actively searching, because, you know, I have a preview and a paper proposal and homework and sleep and a shower and laundry and dinner and practicing and a variance form and grad school applications and candidcay forms and and and andandanda&and&&&&&&&.... *deep breath*

So I'm casting about in y'all's direction. The chapel is often very cold, and I'm starting to get concerned that it might be that way for my recital. So, I'm looking for a fingerless glove pattern that...
...is not tight at the top (by the knuckles).
...is a lace pattern.
...extends past the wrists. The sleeves of my outfit go just about to my elbow, maybe a little above, and is lacy itself. I feel like I would just have black arms if the gloves went up above the elbow. I'm imagining something just a little below the elbowne.
...gauntlet-style, maybe. With a loop or something that goes over my middle finger, to hold it up.

Oh, and I read "Goodnight Moon" to Margie and Kartika. And Margie read it to Kartika and me in German. And then Kartika read it to Margie and me in Indonesian. It is generally established that "mush" does not translate, and that the "jumping over the moon cow" is a long phrase.

Do you have a particular yarn in mind? A specific weight? Sport? Worsted? Fingering/sock? If it was gauntlet-style with a loop to go over a finger, would you still want the thumb to have its own hole?

I imagine you want to keep them easy (i.e. Not crochet thread on 0000 size needles or twenty row pattern repeats.) because you can't spend all your time knitting.

I assume these will be knit in the round? Or would buttons be an option?
