Previously on The Phone Saga: My phone was brutally harrassed by hot chocolate and violent thrashing during the Great Car Accident of '08. It wouldn't make very much noise, speaker-wise, and I knew it was only a matter of time before internal corrosion proved too much for my little darling.
Well, today my phone decided to call it quits. It wouldn't dial numbers. So I turned it off to try to turn it back on and forgot that I have a lock code on it when I turn it on, so for a couple hours it wouldn't turn on. Then it decided to let me dial numbers again. I immediately took the lock code off and began the process of copying down my contacts list.
Kelsey drove me to the Loo to the cell phone store (although we also went to Best Buy to compare prices). I thought I'd be able to get a deal if I renewed my plan. Foolish me. Apparently since I changed my plan in November, that's not an option. Okay, so I looked at the phone I had looked at online and had talked to mom about buying. (At this point, we're talking $260.) Turns out, I can't stand it. Too big, too bulky, and the buttons aren't comfortable to reach at all. Shoot. I'm trying to not be picky about this, 'cause really I just want a phone that works, but this phone is going to have to serve me the next two years, it really ought to be one I can stand. And, of course, they don't have my old phone still.
So we go to Best Buy and look around. Then back to the cell phone store.
I look at all the phones, paying attention to the "full price" to know what price I'm really looking at. I found two that I can stand.
Problem: one of the phones I can stand (the one I can stand less) is only a little more expensive than the original one looked at (now we're at $270ish). The one I can stand the most, and the one that gets the best CR marks (for the ones I can stand) is, well, a bit more alot more expensive. STUPID TECHNOLOGY! (For the record, $360ish.)
Argh.

You realize of course that by posting the prices, I now cannot buy you the phone, because I will lose all of my street cred entirely with the other moms when you blog about it.
