my day

Let's start with the frustatingness of the WB ITS department. Let's start with the fact that if you call them and get voicemail, the computer says you've reached the "it's" department. Then, let's move on to discuss how we now have to change our password every 90 days, AND we can't use the same one until we've used TEN different ones.
Oh, and don't even get me started on how they'll let profs use outlook or other software programs for email access, but they won't give students the info on how to do it. GRR!
Oh, and how about how, if you send them an email with a question, you will NEVER get a response. LEARN TO USE YOUR EMAIL, IT'S DEPARTMENT!!

I got ttested for mono today. Which is why this is going to be shorter than I would like: it hurts to type. Turns out, I don't have mono. But, wow, was it an experience to find that out. First, she couldn't find a vein. The one she could find kept rolling, so she just kept feeling around the elbone and such. Then, once she did stick me, I wouldn't bleed. Got nothing.
So we moved to finger sticking. First finger stick: not enough blood. I felt like a cow being milked through the finger, or like a snake being pumped for venom.
So we draped my hand so the blood will run into it and wrap a warm, wet washcloth around it to increase blood flow.
Pretty much barely got the right amount, and then I turned out to be fine.
So what's next? How do we figure out what's making the Panda so sickly? That's right, another throat culture. (My throat has culture??) Then they let me go. I'll hear back Thursday evening or Friday morning. Great.

Alrighty, it's hurting to type (bruising from the finger sticks), so I'm going to go collapse asleep now.
I just hope I can go to class tomorrow.

Assuming they haven't changed it since they killed the alum accts in March, set it up in Outlook as follows:

POP server
Server name: mail.wartburg.edu
Username: firstname.lastname@wartburg.edu
(must include the @wartburg.edu part)

You really should have a 2nd email acct such as gmail set up in outlook that you can use for sending, although you could set the "reply-to" address as your wartburg one. In Thunderbird, I had it set up to show as the wartburg acct even though it used the outgoing server settings for another email acct; i'm not sure if outlook will let you do that or not.

hope that helps!

Remember your uncle can always help. Just call him! I suspect he can give you a hand with any problems.

My work has the same lame password rule, but I have to change it every two weeks. The trick I learned is to have a password and then a number. So I have my work password and just change the number each time. So when I reach 0 I can start over with 1. It works well for me. Otherwise I would never remember what my password is!

I am so sorry to hear about your blood letting experience. I have small veins that roll. So I feel your pain. Hope you are feeling better soon.
