Quick Numbness v. Organist update: the CT was normal: no cats.
Bair and I are doing the 4th on Post, not in DC. We decided that since I have to be at the airport early that it'd just be too crazy to try to leave the city in the morning and hope to make my plane in time. Plus I've decided that I really do have to check a bag (gr) because I now have two inhalers (go asthma.. grr), plus I honestly don't know if my organ shoes would baffle security or not if I tried to do them as a carry on, especially in light of recent world news events. I'm not sure what kind of damage I could do with a steel rod from toe to heel on each shoe, but I'm sure security could think of something. But it works better that way anyway, 'cause it'll take me less time to get through security.
So Bair and I are going to hit Luckies and get two sixpacks of cokes (at Luckies they sell them in the "old fashioned" glass bottles) and leave one in a cooler in the car and take the other and some snack food out to the field with our blankets and whatnot. And on mom's request we're going to find a family to sit by (mom's worried about her two pretty 20-year-olds and all the 20-something Army guys) and be protected by. The cokes in the car are for our parking lot vigil: that time when everyone's trying to leave: so we're just going to sit there and wait for everyone to leave before we leave. I'm guessing we'll leave around four or something, do dinner there (am I too tall to ride the ponies?), etc, etc, watch the fwerks, and supposedly it all gets done at 10. So I'm imagining we'll leave the parking lot around 11. Maybe.
All that to get home, change, sleep, and be up in time to shower, finish last minute packing, and hit the road! Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Waverly!
